Worker
This DIPLOMA program prepares graduates for their FSW role to provide excellent customer service by handling food, serving customers, and maintaining sanitation and safety standards.
About the Diploma
FSWs (Food Service Workers) portion and distribute meals according to the chef’s menu, and then serve food and beverages to customers, while providing menu choice information and friendly suggestions. FSWs also sanitize work stations and tables, and set dishes and utensils. An important part of their role is customer service, engaging with clients to solve problems, assist with dietary needs, and foster a positive mealtime culture. FSWs are trusted with cash, inventory, meal records and reports. FSWs work in a fast-paced environment like a restaurant, long-term healthcare facility, banquet hall, or hospital, often during peak dining hours.
Practical Kitchen Labs
Affirm College offers the only FSW program in Ontario which includes lab days with hands-on experience inside a commercial kitchen. Affirm College is the only culinary school in Hamilton.

Tools and Attire
For lab days and practicum, students must wear non-slip, preferably steel toed shoes, black logo scrubs and pants

which are ideal for the industry.
